 More about me

Hi! My name is Plamedie Ifasso, and I am an aspiring journalist. I attended Texas Woman's University where I majored in Writing & Rhetoric and minored in journalism at the University of North Texas.

I moved to the United States from the Democratic Republic of the Congo when I was two and have lived in Texas since. Writing and reading have been my passions ever since I was little. When I was younger, I always carried a book, a journal and a pen with me everywhere I went.

In the past, I struggled with opening up to new people, but writing is a way for me to be honest with the people around me. My favorite things to write have always been short stories, but my time at TWU and UNT introduced me to different genres of writing.

My senior of college I became the copy editor for TWU's student newspaper, The Lasso. I have bylines at The Lasso, Study Breaks Magazine, and UNT's student newspaper, North Texas Daily. In 2019, my creative nonfiction piece, "Are You a Ghost," was accepted in TWU's honors anthology, Off the Quill. I worked as a Resident Assistant for two years. I also served as Vice President of TWU's Sigma Tau Delta chapter and Treasurer of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.  In 2020, I received the Redbud award for Campus Leader with a Heart.

Besides writing, in my free time, I like listening to music (anything by Beyoncé is always really good), watching movies and TV shows (my current favorite show is The Good Place), and hanging out with my amazing friends.

In the future, I hope to write for an online publication and publish books or help other writers publish their work.
